Ingredients
  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ pounds chicken wings
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Directions
  1. Add vegetable oil to a large, heavy-bottomed pot over high heat and bring to 350 F.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt on a large plate.
  3. Once oil has reached 350 F, dredge wings in seasoned flour and carefully place in the oil in batches, being careful not to crowd the pot.
  4. Fry each batch of wings until golden on the outside and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the fried wings to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of a wing to ensure they are cooked through (at least 165 F).
  6. Meanwhile, start the balsamic glaze by adding balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, and salt to a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  7. Simmer glaze for 10-12 minutes, until it coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat.
  8. Once the wings and glaze are done, add the wings to a large bowl and pour over the glaze.
  9. Toss wings until fully coated, then transfer to a serving platter.
  10. Serve hot and garnished with chopped parsley, additional crushed red pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
