Classic Cheesy Baked Ziti Recipe

Ingredients
1 pound rigatoni pasta
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup chopped yellow onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 ½ pounds ground Italian sausage
1 (28-ounce jar) marinara sauce
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon paprika
2 cups (16 ounces) ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes or according to package instructions.
Once cooked, drain pasta and run under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
Add vegetable oil to a large skillet and place over medium heat.
Add onion and cook until slightly golden, about 7-8 minutes.
Add garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
Add sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 10 minutes.
Stir in the marinara sauce, parsley, basil, and paprika. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove from heat.
Add pasta, meat sauce, and ricotta to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Mix well until combined.
Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
Bake on the middle rack for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Serve hot.
