Storing cupcakes in an airtight container will preserve their texture, but it’s crucial to handle them delicately to prevent messing up their pristine frosting.
To avoid a frosting fiasco, turn the container upside down. Instead of buying a cake cover, which features a domed lid, you can use an airtight container lid-side down instead.
To use this upside-down approach, place the cupcakes on the container's lid, then carefully lower the container into place before securing it.
For best results, choose a container that's tall enough to accommodate the cupcakes with some room to spare, but not so tall that it won't fit in the fridge if needed.
