This burger lasted from 1991 to 1996 and was 91% fat free due to the seaweed added to the meat, but it had less flavor and a drier texture that made it unpopular.
Additionally, the price was a few cents higher than other McDonald's burgers. The seaweed also contained carrageenan, an additive whose safety had been a concern.
Unfortunately, the product was discontinued in 2003 due to a lack of sales. It was replaced by a line of premium salads, which have now also been discontinued.
This side consisted of low-fat yogurt with strawberries, blueberries, and granola. It was popular for a long time, but fell as collateral to the pandemic.

The Hula Burger, which had thick, grilled pineapple and cheese on a bun, competed with the Filet-o-Fish to become a permanent menu item in 1962 — and, obviously, lost.
Fish McBites were around for three months in 2013 to celebrate Lent. The public's response to these fried nuggets of wild Alaskan pollock was underwhelming.
