The idea of finding fresh sushi in an obscure gas station is unrealistic. Rolls without any raw seafood will have the least likely chance of containing anything spoiled.
There’s no telling how long gas station hot dogs have been there. There isn’t protection from outside elements and the heat lamps may not be at the right temperature.
Fresh items are often marked up in price at gas stations due to lower turnover, which often indicates the produce probably sat in cold storage for a while.
You might be drawn to the sweet, brightly-colored slushies, but it’s best to skip them. Gas stations are notorious for having mold and mildew hang out in these machines.
Gas station nachos are round, stale tortilla chips topped with “cheese.” Nachos need to be kept above 135 degrees F to be safe, but most establishments don’t do that.
