In a video, Tasty demonstrated a new culinary creation on social media: DIY "bacon" in the form of hot dog ribbons, cooked until crunchy in the air fryer.

Before you recreate the dish, you can freeze the franks for half an hour to two hours for easier slicing and to boost the crispy, crunchy texture, but it's not entirely necessary.
Hot dogs being peeled
Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F. Meanwhile, peel the franks with a straight-edge vegetable peeler, running it along the entire length for a more bacon-like look.
Gloved hand coating hot dog ribbons with oil and sauce
Before or after tossing the pile of hot dog shavings into the air fryer, consider coating them in a neutral oil with a high smoke point and any sauces you like to aid in crisping.

The ribbons will be done in about 10 minutes, and you must flip them at least twice during the process to help them cook and crisp up evenly. You can serve them however you want.
