If you’ve heard of Georgia peaches, you might assume Georgia is the peach capital of the United States, but that top spot actually belongs to California.
California is the leading producer of a number of fruits and vegetables, including peaches, due to its soil, sunshine, and size. Georgia only comes in third for peach production.
During the summer months, California churns out fresh peaches, reporting a whopping 475,000 tons in 2022. The two main types of California peaches are clingstone and freestone.
