Stop Making This Common Blunder With Basmati And Jasmine Rice

NEWS

By MATTHEW LEE
Aromatic rice, like jasmine or basmati, will deliver a fluffy result if you prepare them properly. After rinsing, soak the rice in clean tap water for 30 minutes before cooking.
Soaking aromatic rice helps preserve the compounds responsible for its floral scent and nutty flavor. It also softens the grains, resulting in more evenly cooked rice throughout.
It’s important to note that jasmine rice is softer and stickier, making it prone to clumping. If that’s a deal-breaker for you, you can skip soaking and stick to rinsing the rice.
