Frying bacon in a skillet often leads to splatters and requires time and constant attention. While there are faster ways to cook bacon, the easiest one is to pop it in the oven.
Simply lay bacon slices on a baking sheet lined with a layer of aluminum foil or parchment paper and cook them in an oven preheated to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 20 minutes.
Cooking it in the oven for 10-12 minutes will yield chewy, tender bacon strips. For extra crispy bacon you want to chop up and use in another dish, cook it for the full 20 minutes.
Experiment with the cooking time to see how long it takes to get your desired level of crispiness. Press another baking sheet with a lined bottom over the bacon for flatter strips.
As the bacon’s baked and not fried, the bacon fat won't splatter or bubble up so vehemently. If you use heavy enough foil, you may not even need to wash the baking sheet afterward.
Moreover, you can fit much more bacon onto a baking sheet than you could on any frying pan, so if you're cooking for a crowd, using the oven is undoubtedly your best bet.
