Despite Anthony Bourdain's many travels, he had a deep love for New York City's down-to-earth eats, like pizza. His favorite spot in the city was a pizzeria called Di Fara.
In a piece that Bourdain wrote for The Guardian in 2005, he called Di Fara "the best of the best." The original location has been around since 1965.
It continues to top numerous lists for the best pizza in NYC. Founder Domenico De Marco is known for taking his time to create his Sicilian and Neapolitan-style slices.
At the time of De Marco's death in March 2022, The New York Times called him "a living link between the cooking of Southern Italy and New York City's corner-slice culture."
While Di Fara's founder may be gone, his family continues the tradition and even opened a second location in Manhattan's South Street Seaport in 2022.
