There's More To Beer Koozies Than Simply Being A Gimmicky Accessory

Besides being a nice memento, a koozie’s primary role is to keep your beer cold. In fact, the implement has been scientifically proven to keep your beer colder.
Dale Durran, a University of Washington professor of atmospheric sciences, studied the effects of warm air on a cold beer and the benefits of having a koozie.
When warm air hits a cold beer, the air reaches its dew point and condenses. According to Durran, in hot weather, the condensation releases heat that warms the beer in the can.
In a UW press release, he stated, “Probably the most important thing a beer koozie does is not simply insulate the can, but keep condensation from forming on the outside of it.”
