Experience

Clarissa has been a reporter and freelance writer for more than a decade. She began her career by covering food news in local Long Island, New York communities in 2010. In wanting to reach a larger audience, she wrote about the culinary world for GALO (Global Art Laid Out) Magazine in 2012. This opportunity later inspired her to move to New York City and explore the various food cultures and scenes. After spending time in NYC, she was led to move into education and begin leading research projects involving food access and security with young people in her classroom. She continues to teach about the history of food and cooking as part of the curriculum in her history classes.

Education

Clarissa has a bachelor's degree in English from Syracuse University and a master's in education from CUNY Lehman College.
