Alex has been a food and culture writer for Utah's alternative press outfits for over a decade. His passion for food writing began with an enthusiasm for gastronomic exploration in Salt Lake City's rapidly evolving restaurant scene. During his time as a food writer, he has had the opportunity to serve as a judge for several food and drink competitions, cover a wide range of culinary events, and work as the de facto source of restaurant recommendations for his friends and family. His greatest culinary victory was when he got his daughter to try some chicken feet at a dim sum restaurant, though they have yet to catch on as one of her favorites.

Education

Alex earned a bachelor's degree in English education and a master's in educational psychology with an emphasis on reading and literacy from the University of Utah.
