- Everything Juniper knows about cooking, they learned from Alton Brown, who inspired them to become a food communicator.
- Juniper spent a year living and traveling in a van, cooking everywhere from wilderness campsites to grocery store parking lots, and hunting down restaurants where the locals love to eat.
- As a single parent of three, Juniper knows that working within constraints requires ingenuity that often leads to an unforgettable meal, like the kid-friendly steak and potatoes dinner they cooked over a campfire in Kentucky's Daniel Boone National Forest.
Experience
Juniper took a non-traditional route to Static Media's food vertical. They worked as a server at Steak 'n' Shake in college, then spent several years in law practice and sales before realizing that the thing they loved most about all those things was the writing. In their first year as a freelance ghostwriter, they wrote about nearly everything under the sun, including farm equipment, pet care, fitness, gardening, hiking, travel, and even astrobiology. It was through that breadth of experience that Juniper discovered that an insatiable curiosity about anything and everything was the key to their writing process. Along the way, they wrote a great deal about beer, wine, liquor, and cocktails, which brought them to Static Media's TastingTable and Chowhound in 2024. Juniper is half single mom, half solo traveler, so their food writing focuses on low-effort meals, casual dining, and cooking with constraints like limited space, equipment, and money.
Education
Juniper has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Cincinnati and a juris doctorate from the University of Cincinnati William Howard Taft College of Law (now the Donald P. Klekamp College of Law).
